Like historic characters, fairy tale characters and grade B movie characters already come with a back story: "And they lived happily ever after." What's funny about that? Not much. Have characters deal with problems just like the rest of us, have them live not so happily ever after and you're more likely to get a laugh.
Humpty Dumpty falls. Who would be called today? The King's men? No. The king's lawyers.
