We laugh most at animals in cartoons when they act not like animals, but like people.
What do dogs do when they want something? They beg. What do people do when they want something? They go to a bank.
A dog chewing up someone would not be funny at all. So why else might one want to beware of a dog?
A dog cliché: "It's a dog eat dog world out there."
